Q. Is Unique Cottages part of another company or consortium?
A. We are an independent company that is owned and run by our Managing Director, Mark Breed. We are based in our own cottage at the foot of the Eildon hills with a portfolio of over 550 properties spread out across Scotland. Having been in business for nearly 30 years we have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the self-catering industry.

Q. How will my property be priced?
A. We take a unified approach where we work in partnership with you to mutually decide on pricing levels that you are happy with and that we are confident we can achieve agreed upon booking levels at. When deciding on appropriate pricing we take into account the property's presentation standard, situation and available facilities, as well as the interest levels we experience in its particular area of Scotland.

Q. How will I know what bookings I have received?
A. As well as keeping you up-to-date by email, we will provide you with a login for our secure Owner Portal which gives you easy access to all of your booking details so you know exactly where you stand. It also shows the guest reviews that your property has received and gives you the opportunity to respond to them as necessary.

Q. Am I allowed to book my property for my own use?
A. We believe that you should be free to enjoy your property as well as your guests, so are happy for our owners to withdraw dates from the calendar for their own use. We only ask that this is limited to no more than 6 weeks in the mid, high and peak seasons. If you’d like to offer friends and family a discount we can give you an exclusive promotion code solely for their use.

Q. How should I furnish my holiday home?
A. Standards for furnishings and fittings in our own homes have risen steadily over the years. As most guests prefer a holiday cottage to be of a higher standard than they have at home, it is important to meet this expectation whilst striking a balance between comfort, durability and style. Investing in high quality, sturdy furniture is well worthwhile to minimise maintenance requirements and associated costs.
