Although the cottage is in a fabulous location, it is a bit dark when the sun isn't shining and needs a lot more lamps (or brighter bulbs in the existing ones) when it is dull and wet (which it was for a lot of our stay). We were missing a set of towels when we arrived so called Stuart who turned up within an hour with them. The satellite box wasn't working whilst we were there (Stuart said it was likely to be trees that had grown up around the dish) so we relied upon the Roku box and watched catch-up TV only. The extractor fan over the cooker was broken, the extractor fan in the bathroom is on its last legs, the cupboard door above the kettle has melted with the heat from the steam, the only hot water is from an immersion heater (which doesn't have a timer) and the new electric heating system doesn't have full instructions (I had to Google the controller model to get instructions on how to pair the heaters with the central thermostatic controller or they would only keep heating and rapidly use up our precious £30 electricity alllowance). The solid fuel system for heating the radiators works well but it takes a while for the heat to come through (the stove has to reach a certain temperature before the heat circulates). The cottage could be so much better with a bit of TLC so it was a bit expensive for what we got (we had a much better standard of accommodation the week before for less money near Kirriemuir) so although we loved the area, we will probably not stay here again unless a bit of money is spent on improvements.

House cold and electricity charges extortionate almost £100 for week in summer. Electricity meter too high to read and you needed steps, so could not check our usage, but we are elderly and climbing not safe. Hot water heater was on when we arrived so we assumed it was supposed to remain on, no book to explain. We have used Unique before but doubt will use again. Very quick taking extra charge for electricity but could have contacted us first to determine pricing for electricity. Black Isle left big hole in pocket. Sorry

Comfortable living room and main bedroom. Lovely enclosed garden with lots of wildlife. As we were out all day it was not possible to light the woodburner in order to activate the central heating system. The electric heaters were efficient in quickly warming up the house, but very expensive, as electricity useage over £30 had to be paid for at the end of the stay. The house was cold and damp on arrival, and it was therefore necessary to use the electric heaters. The kitchen was well equipped and light for breakfast. The bedding in the small bedroom needs upgrading - tired and lumpy duvet and pillows, and no pillow protectors.
