Redgorton Cottage is a traditional country cottage set in a pretty garden in Camserney, a small hamlet just 3 miles from the market town of Aberfeldy in Highland Perthshire.

The house is actually over 300 years old and has been updated and extended to create a delightful mix of charming original features along with all of the expected modern comforts. Redgorton is a cruck cottage, named as such due to the shape of its beams that are curved like a shepherd’s crook.
In the original part of the house a wood-burning stove provides a welcoming focal point and cosy atmosphere for time spent indoors after days spent out and about. The wooden extension houses a chic, open plan kitchen/dining room that is ideal for socialising and has sliding glass doors through which the view of the garden and hills beyond can be appreciated.
Everything is laid out on one level with a smart master double bedroom with a comfy king-size bed and a twin room that has zip-link beds that can be converted to a super king-size bed if required. Both bedrooms have the benefit of having their own contemporary en suite shower rooms.
The garden around the cottage is fully enclosed so it is perfect for children and pets, with lovely views out over the Tay Valley that can particularly be enjoyed from the outdoor dining area. Parking for up to 2 cars is available, as well as secure storage for bikes, etc.
Less than a mile away at Highland Safaris various trips run out with experienced guides who know the best sights to visit as well as the most likely places to spot the native wildlife. The off road safari is a particularly thrilling ride with the chance to drive some of the rugged terrain in a 4x4 and the red deer centre allows these beautiful animals to be seen right up close.
Aberfeldy (3 miles) has a good range of shops to browse and the town also has a 9 hole golf course that welcomes visitors. On the way into Aberfeldy stop off at Castle Menzies (1.75 miles) for a wander around this impressive 16th century ancestral seat that was restored from a ruin and now houses fascinating exhibits on its history.
On the outskirts of Aberfeldy is the Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery that whisky enthusiasts are sure to love. Tours of the distillery explain all about the distillery process and no trip would be complete without a tasting in the inviting whisky lounge afterwards.
It is well worth taking a walk out to the Falls of Moness waterfalls on the Birks of Aberfeldy walking route that is only 1.5 miles long and has very scenic views of the falls. A statue of Robert Burns can be found on a bench facing the water in the spot where he is said to have written the famous Birks of Aberfeldy song.
Munro baggers will find several for them to tackle in easy reach nearby or, for a bit more of an adrenalin rush, there is white water rafting to try on the River Tay. Perth (34 miles) is just over an hour’s drive away should a day trip into the city be on the agenda.
