A warm welcome awaits at lochside retreat Duallin Farm House where contemporary style meets traditional charm, creating the perfect atmosphere in which to fully disconnect from busy everyday life. This spacious house occupies a very special spot with a wonderful outlook over magnificent Loch Tay in the Perthshire countryside.
Relaxation is the order of the day in the delightful sitting room at the heart of the house with the chic sofas inviting guests to settle into their elegant surroundings. The wonderfully spacious dining kitchen is sure to be where the most time will be spent whether it be lingering over meals or simply taking in that amazing loch vista.
From the dining area, doors lead out onto a wonderful raised deck where the best of the views can be enjoyed and there is also an additional snug/sitting room to spread out into.
The double bedroom downstairs (king-size) has an en suite bathroom off it with a feature stone feature wall providing the backdrop to the lovely free-standing bath tub. Three further bedrooms (two double and one twin) are set out upstairs and each benefits from its own en suite bath/shower room. The master bedroom is particularly luxurious with its king-size bed, double shower and handy dual wash basins.
The house is set on a working farm with a sloping track leading down to it so care should be taken, particularly as there may be agricultural machinery around. Duallin Farm House can be booked along with neighbouring Duallin Croft just a minutes’ walk away in order to accommodate larger parties of guests.
Kenmore (7 miles) is a picturesque conservation village sitting right on the northern shore of Loch Tay with a lovely sandy beach that is great for a walk or a paddle. Just by the beach the Loch Tay Boating Centre offers the chance to get out on the water with the hire of everything from rowing boats to cabin cruisers, as well as canoes, kayaks and mountain bikes.
The Mains of Taymouth Country Estate in Kenmore extends to over 120 acres and has a deli, a bar and restaurant and a challenging 9-hole golf course with day passes available for visiting players.
Boat trips head out with Loch Tay Safaris from Taymouth Marina (7.5 miles) which are a good way of taking in the gorgeous scenery from the unique perspective of the water. They have a very friendly crew who are happy to point out all of the best sights and share their wealth of local knowledge.
At the Scottish Crannog Centre by the marina, the museum offers a fascinating insight into the history of the early loch dwellings that would have been common in the early Iron Age. The impressive replica crannog that used to sit out in the water was sadly damaged by a fire but is in the process of being rebuilt.
The Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve (9.5 miles) has seven different munros within it so it is the perfect place to add to the bagging tally or start crossing off the 282 munros that are spread out across Scotland. Further north the delightful market town of Aberfeldy (13.5 miles) is home to the Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery where interesting tours are run and the nominated driver gets a wee dram to take away and sample. Heading further south it is well worth exploring the delights of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park where an array of activities can be chosen from.
