Hygge House is a stylish, cosy holiday cottage designed for pure comfort. Nestled within the tranquil surroundings of Keithick Estate in Perthshire, in the heart of the Strathmore valley, just 7 from Blairgowrie.
Inspired by the Scandinavian word ‘hygge’ – pronounced ‘hoo-ga’ - which in essence is all about creating a warm, cosy atmosphere and taking time to relax and enjoy the good things in life, this newly transformed two-bedroom cottage certainly lives up to its name.
With an emphasis on style and comfort, and the chance to take time out from the hustle and bustle of daily life, this single-storey cottage is surrounded by the trees, fields and the old walls of a scenic, peaceful Perthshire estate.
Clad in locally sourced larch wood, two steps lead into the truly unique Hygge House and a small porch, perfect for storing coats and muddy boots after a scenic walk in the beautiful Perthshire countryside.
From here, a warm welcome awaits in a spacious, stylish, sitting, dining, and kitchen area, where comfort is key. The wood burning stove takes centre stage, complemented by cosy cork floors, and a large, comfortable corner sofa, a space designed for true relaxation – complete with patio doors that open out onto a large private larch deck, crafted from trees from the Keithick Estate.
The cottage offers one twin bedroom, and a double bedroom with king-size bed, both inviting rooms with a clean, modern décor that matches the understated elegance of the hygge concept.
There is an equally well-finished bathroom with oak flooring, also taken from trees on the estate, cork walls and a trendy freestanding bath, with handheld shower for added convenience.
Located in a small hamlet with a charming old stable block to the rear, this beautiful cottage sits in a large, enclosed garden, with a gate and private parking. With quirky design features, a lot of style, and a warm homely feel, ‘Hygge house’ embodies warmth, comfort, and the art of relaxation.
This picturesque Perthshire estate is an ideal base for visits to Blairgowrie, Perth, Dundee, Fife or Edinburgh. When you have returned after a day of explorations and adventures – you can relax in the pure comfort and style of Hygge House.

Hygge House sits amongst the fertile heartland of Strathmore, a magnificent valley that stretches some 50 miles through the stunning scenery of east central Scotland.
These wide rural plains – which lie between the Grampian mountains and the Sidlaw Hills – boast stunning glens, beautiful rivers, breathtaking beaches and coastline, as well as plenty to see and do.
Ideally situated just 14 miles from Perth, and 12 miles from Dundee, the nearest small town of Coupar Angus offers a small number of shops which include a Co-op, petrol station and The Red House Hotel.
However, located only four miles from here is one of Perthshire’s largest towns, bustling Blairgowrie. As the gateway to Glenshee, it is a thriving tourist destination which caters for year-round sports that include skiing and snowboarding at Scotland’s largest ski area, as well as mountain biking, golfing, and even abseiling, paragliding and even husky trails. This area is also popular with anglers, as well as history lovers, and nature enthusiasts. It is home to a wide range of independent retailers and shops.
Close by, the pretty village of Meikleour boasts the Meikleour Beech Hedge which was planted in 1746, and is officially recognised as the tallest hedge in the world. The Meikleour Arms Hotel and Restuarant is a good destination for a coffee, pub lunch or dinner, with walking routes all around.
Dog walkers and beach lovers can also enjoy a visit to the beautiful sands at Broughty Castle, on the banks of the River Tay.
Families looking for an active day out are extremely well-catered for, with leisure centres boasting flumes and wave machines at both Perth and Dundee, whilst the nearby award-winning Piperdam leisure resort offers a quieter swimming opportunity. Thrill-seekers should head to the outdoor activity centre Nae Limits, where white-water rafting, canyoning and quad biking can be relished.
For a more gentle pastime whilst in Perthshire, there is the opportunity to visit Scone Palace, a stunning historic house and visitor attraction set in beautiful grounds. Slightly further away but also worth a visit, is the majestic Glamis Castle, the childhood home to HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother.
And ensuring that every box is certainly ticked when it comes to entertainment and things to do, there are also cinemas in Perth and Dundee, and not forgetting the latter’s renowned V&A museum with café.
The nearest train station is at Perth, and Edinburgh airport is 40 miles away.
Ideally located in the heart of Scotland, Strathmore Valley and the surrounding area of Perth, Dundee and beyond, is the ideal base to enjoy the tranquillity and adventures on offer in a very special part of the country.

Great location and overall the property was clean and spacious.
However it felt like this first year of operation was a ‘shake down’ period and there were some things poorly thought through. Some items could be easily addressed if there had been a means of providing feedback which would ensure future guests didn’t get irritated as we were.
But the real issue is the bathroom set up. While it was mentioned as having ‘a handheld shower for convenience’ with the very poor water pressure, this wasn’t a solution for getting showered. When the hot water worked (which wasn’t the case for a lot of the time), the pressure was still too poor to run a real bath, and it was dangerous using the hand held shower as the mixing meant it was either cold or scalding. There needs to be a rethink on the whole plumbing set up.
The property has potential but I would not return until things were sorted out.

The cottage was well located, clean and comfortable. However it was let down by the extremely low water pressure, particularly to the shower. My wife had to use a jug with water from the bath to wash her hair. It would have been very inconvenient to arrive as a family with two daughters with long hair. No floor mop until requested, no vacuum cleaner and no microwave. A washing machine was provided without a drying rack or line and no iron.. Finally the weather was not overly warm and the method for controlling the heating was not satisfactory.

Thank you for taking your time to leave and review and providing feedback on the property. The owner has advised that there is now a mop and drying rack for guests to use. They will look into providing a iron and ironing board; and will investigate installing a new pressurised boiler with their plumber.
Once again we do appreciate all feedback and hope to welcome you back again in the future.
