Glen Affric, Strathglass & Beauly
This area, to the west/south west of Inverness, must count as one of the most beautiful in all Scotland. Beauly, for example, is said to have been named after Mary Queen of Scots, on seeing it, exclaimed ‘Quel beau lieu!' From there, roads lead south west to the peaceful Strathglass, and Glens Strathfarrar and Affric, where the scenery is no less wondrous in its rugged magnificence.
The glens are also home to a fabulous array of wildlife, from golden eagles to black grouse, from deer to pine martens.
