At the heart of the pretty village of Jemimaville is The Old Manse, an elegant Regency style house set in beautiful grounds that lead right down to the shore of the Cromarty Firth, near Cromarty on the Black Isle.

The house dates all the way back to 1848 and is beautifully presented throughout. The owners have managed to cleverly combine traditional features such as high ceilings and decorative fireplaces with all of the expected modern comforts.
In the main dining kitchen a large bay window floods the room with light making it a delightful place to eat together. The cosy sitting room is kept toasty by a wood-burning stove and there the twin and double bedrooms on this level that make use of a walk-in shower and separate WC.
A double bedroom sits mid-level between the ground floor and the lower ground floor and below that is an attractive twin bedroom, a family bathroom and a handy games room/snug/TV room with a table tennis table. There is also a second kitchen/dining room so it is ideal if some of the party want some of their own space to spread out into.
Secure storage has been provided for sports equipment, etc and the large grassed garden has some lovely, mature plants and trees. Beyond the garden is a path that leads down to the shoreline which is the perfect place for wildlife spotting or simply enjoying the beautiful view.
Geese, ospreys and other seabirds can be seen from the shore and at the Udale Bay RSPB site just along the road a wildlife hide allows for a better, close-up look. The Northern Lights are visible in just the right conditions so a lucky few may manage to spot them.
Cromarty (5 miles) has lots of independent shops that are nice to have a wander and browse around and there is also a grocery shop and a good choice of places to eat. For those who prefer to explore on two wheels bike hire is available and EcoVentures offers boat trips out to see the wonderful local colony of bottlenose dolphins.
Rosemarkie’s (6.5 miles) lovely long stretch of sandy beach is great for seaside walks or rockpooling when the tide is out and the town’s Groam House Museum houses some impressive Pictish stones.
At the Learnie Red Rock Trails (5.5 miles) just outside Rosemarkie the range of mountain biking trails has something to suit everyone as well as a dirt jump area to try out. Fortrose (7 miles) has a small supermarket and at the Rosemarkie and Fortrose Golf Club the 18 hole course offers the chance to play on one of the oldest recorded clubs in the world!
In Dingwall (15 miles) there are a range of shops, a leisure centre with a swimming pool and a museum with exhibits on the town’s history. Liquid Footprints run canoeing, gorge scrambling and sea kayaking expeditions and the train station in Dingwall links up to Inverness in just 35 minutes for day trips.
