The cottage has recently undergone quite the transformation following a full refurbishment throughout and a new heating system has been added to ensure its cosiness.
At the heart of the house is the charming sitting room where the comfy seating has been positioned so that the wonderful sea view can be appreciated at the same time as the wood-burning stove. The stylish new kitchen is well-equipped with everything easily to hand and more captivating views can be admired from the dining table during meals.
Upstairs are two attractive bedrooms, a double and a twin, that both have quite breathtaking sea views and a shower room with a walk-in shower.
The cottage has its very own garden seat across the tiny access road on which it stands and which is all that separates it from the foreshore.
To the rear is a garden that has been built into the hillside with various decking areas set in terraces (with furniture) where guests can look over the top of the house to the gorgeous seascape beyond. Access to the rear garden is via a steep staircase that is very unsuitable for those with limited mobility.
For a family seaside holiday Sea Cottage’s situation can hardly be bettered. There is an inn up the hill in the main village and Eyemouth and Berwick have all the facilities you could hope for.
Eyemouth (3 miles) is a pretty village set around a picturesque harbour where boats bob along and there is the chance to feed fish to some of the local seals, an experience that children are sure to love!
A small beach is revealed when the tide goes out and, not surprisingly due to its location, Eyemouth is known for its excellent fish and chips. There are a couple of different shops to try, one of which also sells amazing ice cream with various different flavours to sample (the black vanilla is particularly unusual).
There is a wonderful beach at nearby Coldingham (6.5 miles) or there are several other lovely beaches dotted along this area of coastline. St Abbs (7 miles) is a popular spot for diving expeditions and at the St Abbs Head Nature Reserve the cliffs are home to thousands of seabirds including, it is rumoured, puffins.
Heading inland the stately homes, keeps, abbeys and castles of the historic Border countryside both north and south of the Border will keep most people busy or walk, cycle, ride, fish - the list is endless. It will, however, be very hard to tear yourself away from the charm and comfort of Sea Cottage.
