Overview

Set down its own private drive, it is the perfect lochside retreat that makes an ideal base for exploring the beautiful surrounding area.

The charming entrance hall and grand staircase provide a fitting welcome to this delightful house. The sitting room is warm and inviting with a lovely wood-burning stove to snuggle up in front of after a day spent out and about. There is also a separate TV room for the party to spread out into. The spacious kitchen is modern and very well-equipped with a large gas range, dishwasher and central island. The dining room is really rather grand and has an open fire, making it the perfect place to linger over evening meals whilst enjoying the loch views.

Also on this level is a boot room with practical storage and drying space. The utility room houses the laundry facilities and doubles as a wood store for the open fires and there is also a handy downstairs shower room.

Upstairs there are a total of five bedrooms. The large master double bedroom is bright and spacious with a king-size bed and en suite bathroom. There are four twin bedrooms that are all cosy and beautifully presented throughout. Three of them have en suite bathrooms, one with an unusual long corridor that leads through to its bathroom. The final twin room makes use of the family bathroom that is on a mezzanine level.

Outside, there is plenty of parking right by the door. The house sits in its own enclosed garden (with furniture) that leads right down to the loch with stunning views out across the water.

Map & Local

Inveraray (3 miles), known as the 'Gateway to Argyll', is a pretty lochside town that has plenty of shops, eateries, a PO, a small supermarket and a famous whisky shop.

A visit to the iconic Inveraray Castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll, is a must. It is open to the public from April through to the end of October and features an extravagant state dining room, Parisian style tapestry drawing room and fascinating picture turret. It was even used as the set for one of Downton Abbey’s TV specials when the family travelled up to Scotland to visit family. There is also a gift shop and tea room, as well as 16 acres of wonderful grounds to walk around.

On route to the house you get to experience the section of road known as the ‘Rest and Be Thankful’, that was named as such originally because travellers would stop at the top to rest and be thankful that they had reached the highest point. There is now a viewpoint at the top from which there is a stunning view out over Glen Croe. You also pass the award winning Loch Fyne Restaurant and Oyster Bar at Cairndow (4 miles). This well known seafood restaurant draws visitors from all over the UK that are keen to sample the oysters that are grown in the loch itself.

From Oban (40 miles) you can take the ferry across to the Isle of Lismore (known for its whisky) or to the Isle of Mull. Mull has lots of superb sandy beaches and its capital Tobermory is a pretty seaside town that is known for its brightly painted houses that nestle into the hillside. The island is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts who can try to spot golden and white tailed eagles, seals, dolphins and even the occasional Minke whale.
