This modern house’s spacious accommodation has been spread out over three floors with entry into the boot room on the ground floor at the front. Up on the first floor the greeting immediately on arrival is the enticing, panoramic view of the loch that is spread out before the sitting room. The water outside is also brilliantly showcased in the bright conservatory which opens out onto a balcony where the loch can again be appreciated in all its glory.
From the sitting room doors lead to the open plan kitchen/dining room that is chic and contemporary throughout with the outlook from the dining table (seats 8) being absolutely mesmerising. There are fantastic facilities for those with limited mobility as the drive slopes up behind the house to a ramp at the back door that gives direct access to the first floor where an attractive double bedroom with an accessible en suite shower room and a cosy adjoining snug/TV room have been laid out.
With four more beautifully presented bedrooms set up on the second floor to show off the wonderful views, the house offers great versatility for larger groups. The twin room is ideal for children or teenagers and there are two double rooms (one en suite) as well as an incredibly spacious master suite that may require the flip of a coin to decide who is lucky enough to stay there. It benefits from a super king-size bed, useful walk-in dressing room and a luxurious en suite shower room with an enormous shower and a bath tub from which the loch can be admired whilst soaking in some bubbles.
Ample parking space is provided and the sloping grassed garden that wraps around the house has further wonderful vistas. It is steep in places so care should be taken, particularly with children.
Please note: The house does not accept children under 6 except babies (not suitable for toddlers).
A hotel restaurant is just across the road a couple of minutes’ walk away with a lounge bar or seafood restaurant to try out and a beer garden looking towards the loch that just begs to be visited, particularly in good weather.
One of the ‘must sees’ on anyone’s list will surely be Castle Stalker just outside Appin (10.5 miles) which is one of Scotland’s iconic landmarks. A passenger ferry from nearby Port Appin affords access to the fertile Isle of Lismore which can then be explored on foot or on two wheels (cycle hire available).
Sunny days can be made the most of at Cuil Bay (3 miles) where the sand and shingle beach is a haven for wildlife with sea birds such as oyster catchers, eider ducks and sea eagles to try to spot and otters often making a welcome appearance along the shoreline.
Heading further north, Ballachulish (5 miles) has an excellent 9 hole golf course as well as archery, laser clay pigeon shooting and the chance to try out an e-bike for a bit of extra propulsion or even a Segway which is huge fun once mastered.
Breathtaking scenery can be found around every corner in Glen Coe so the photo opportunities are endless with some of the sights being particularly recognisable from films such as Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkhaban. Just outside Glencoe village (6 miles) a lovely woodland walk leads around Glencoe Lochan and is one of the starting points for treks up the famous Pap of Glencoe and, of course, the Glencoe Mountain Resort is a must for snowsports and challenging mountain biking.
