A large bay window in the sitting room keeps the room light and bright and is an ideal observation point for wildlife spotting out in the bay and the flame effect fire makes an attractive focal point.
The kitchen/dining room is equipped with everything needed and has a double oven which always comes in handy when cooking for a group. It is also supplemented by a utility room with a freezer.
Everything is set out on one level with a master bedroom that has been decked out in soothing heather tones with a lovely king-size bed and another bay window with seating from which to admire the garden and water beyond.
There is a second smaller double bedroom and a twin room that is nice and spacious. The family bathroom has both a bath and a large, separate walk-in shower for maximum flexibility.
The house is accessed via a rough country track and there are rugged garden grounds that surround the house with garden furniture to enjoy the views from. You can even walk right off out into the bay that becomes a large expanse of beach at low tide.
If a break from cooking beckons there are a couple of eateries to choose from in Acharacle (2 miles) with Ardshealach Lodge and the restaurant and bar in the Loch Shiel Hotel that both feature fresh, local seafood on their menus.
This area is known for its great beaches including Camas an Lighe the ‘Singing Sands’ (5.5 miles) that looks out towards the picturesque Small Isles of Rum, Eigg, Muck and Canna. The sand grains are perfectly round, which allows wind to whistle through them to produce a charming ‘singing’ sound. A walk on the beach can be extended to take in Cul na Croise beach and Ardtoe beach (2.5 miles) has miles of sand to explore when the tide is out.
The peninsula is known for its wild, unspoilt beauty that walkers will love and is a haven for wildlife with RSPB Glenborrodale (12.5 miles) being home to skylarks, merlins, wood warblers and even golden eagles.
For a really special experience for children and adults alike there are sled dog tours at Swordle Bay (24.5 miles) that are done on snow in winter and in a special designed dog cart when there is no snow around.
Heading over to the coast at the most westerly point of mainland Britain is Ardnamurchan Lighthouse where there are panoramic views and the chance to spot seals, whales and dolphins. On the way back it is worth a detour to Sanna Bay’s gorgeous beach that has turquoise waters and stunning white sands.
Fort William (38 miles) is the place to stock up on supermarket supplies and fill up the car and the famous West Highland Railway line runs from there up to Mallaig where ferry trips head over to the Small Isles.
