Overview

This is just the place for those looking to really ‘get away from it all’ with a break away from the TV and the chance to fully relax and enjoy the peaceful, idyllic setting.

Wooden cladding has been used to great effect throughout and in the sitting/dining room huge, north-facing windows show off the impressive sea vista and gorgeous sunsets. Deer can be seen grazing in front of the house, pine martens can be spotted and the breathtaking Aurora Borealis can be seen from the comfort of the sofa! It is worth bringing along some binoculars so that the dolphins and whales out in the water can be fully appreciated.

Sliding doors lead out to a raised deck seating area with amazing views towards the Small Isles and the Isle of Skye beyond. A roaring fire in the wood-burning stove creates a lovely warm ambience and there is a wood-fired Rayburn for added additional cosiness if desired.

The incredibly spacious double bedroom with its king-size bed takes up the whole of the upper level of the house with roof windows set into the coombed ceiling that keep it nice and bright and further show off the gorgeous view. Back downstairs, a shower room completes the indoor accommodation.

An enclosed garden area has been created around the house with friendly sheep wandering around the fields surrounding it. There is no direct vehicle access and from the parking area it is a 150 metre walk across a field to the house (up a gentle uphill slope) so it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. A trolley is provided for transporting luggage, which all adds to the feeling of adventure! A track leads right down to the scenic sea shore where there is a lovely sandy beach where kayaks can be launched.

Please note: due to its remote location there is no TV signal and limited mobile phone coverage at this cottage.

Map & Local

Sitting as far west as possible in mainland Scotland is Ardnamurchan Point (12 miles) where steps lead up to the top of the lighthouse for some really spectacular views and sometimes dolphins and even whales to try to spot.

At nearby Sanna Bay (11 miles) is a quite splendid white sandy beach that wouldn’t look out of place in the Caribbean. Although the weather may not quite match up it is still a great place to while away a sunny afternoon paddling or beach combing.

In the village of Kilchoan (6 miles) supplies can be picked up at the village shop and it is well worth a stop off at the Kilchoan Hotel for a meal or a wee dram of one of their selection of fine malt whiskies.

Ferry trips run out from Kilchoan over to the picturesque Isle of Mull taking only 30 minutes to arrive into Tobermory, which is known for the delightful colourful houses that are dotted around the harbour. Whisky lovers will enjoy a visit to the Tobermory Distillery and an absolute must for the holiday agenda is the Mull Eagle Watch excursion that offers the chance to see these magnificent birds.

At the Glenborrodale RSPB reserve there are a wealth of other birds to look out for including skylarks, merlins, redstarts and golden eagles. There are beautiful butterflies and dragonflies as well and in the winter pine martens can be seen out hunting.
