The cottage is in a great location and has clearly been modernised at some point to a high standard. However, the couch and chairs in the main living area were so old (busted zippers, stretched out cushions) that they were incredibly uncomfortable and actually caused us back and leg pain. One bedroom is riddled with damp and we would have been uncomfortable if any one was actually sleeping in that room. The requirement to pay for electricity over £40 is detrimental to getting rid of the damp. The fact that we had heat on in only one room and used the wood burner and still spent more than £40 should be as a warning to all parties.

We have stayed at Sannachan twice before when it was in different ownership and we have loved it, so it was heartbreaking to return for another holiday to find that all the charm and warmth had been removed, and that generally the cottage felt neglected and in need of some general care and maintenance. The cottage was not very clean and we found old dog chews beneath the sofa cushions in the sitting room. The curtain and curtain rail to the dining room was hanging off-the wall, and the blind on the master bedroom window was broken. It was almost impossible to use the showers as the temperature could not be regulated - you either had scolding water or stone cold water. There was insufficient provision of dishwasher tablets (2), plates (6), and no spare bin bag. As there were 5 in our party this was inadequate. On arrival we were greeted by a form informing us to check electricity meter readings and a notice that we would have to pay anything in excess of £40! Happy holidays! No welcome pack, bottle of milk etc. We thought this approach/attitude extremely parsimonious given we had paid over £1,500 for the week. The conspicuous absence of a visitors book should be seen as a red flag as clearly the owners do not care for any feedback from guests. On the plus side is the location in Harbour Street with a view over the loch. We appreciate that holiday lets in season in Plockton are at a premium but there are better options available, many we have stayed in previously in Bank Street and Cooper Street. Sannachan has lost it edge, does not represent value for money, and we shall not return.

We were extremely sorry that you were not completely satisfied with your stay and have passed on your feedback to the owner. Any cleanliness issues have now been addressed and more plates have been provided and as explained in the welcome notes in the cottage, it takes time for the hot water in the showers to adjust so patience is key with them. We were pleased to hear that you enjoyed the location and view and would like to thank you for your valuable feedback and for taking the time to review.

Thanks for your comments. Instructions for the bath taps are provided in the guest welcome laminate in the cottage and there have been no other reports of difficulties with the baths. The furnishings are high quality brands and the string for the blind simply needed to be re-sited into the guide clips.
