Overview

This traditional fisherman’s cottage has been lovingly refurbished to a very high standard throughout. The warm and inviting sitting room has a modern wood-burning stove set into the wall, with comfortable seating around it that is ideal for curling up on after a day spent out exploring. There is also an additional seating area in the dining room, where lingering evening meals can be enjoyed.

The smart, modern kitchen is very well-equipped and has stylish built-in appliances including a dishwasher and a handy wine cooling fridge. There is also a downstairs twin bedroom that enjoys relaxing sea views and has an en suite shower room.

Upstairs are two beautiful presented bedrooms that are decorated in calming, neutral tones. The master double bedroom has a super king-size bed and a luxurious free standing bath from which to admire the wonderful seascape outside.

The twin bedroom has another freestanding bath with yet more gorgeous sea views and they share a ‘Jack and Jill’ style wetroom (accessed from both bedrooms - one step up) that has a double sink and underfloor heating for an extra touch of luxury.

Outside there is parking right by the door and across the road is a grassed garden right on the harbour that has an absolutely magnificent outlook over the loch. It is the perfect place to sit and enjoy an al fresco breakfast or evening drink whilst taking in the soothing atmosphere and mesmerising light dancing on the water.

Map & Local

Plockton is known as the ‘Jewel of the Highlands’ and it is easy to see why. The palm tree-lined harbour is a lovely spot to take a stroll whilst watching the boats and yachts out in the loch. There is even a little island that can be reached across the sands when the tide is out.

The village shop is a couple of minutes’ walk away (with a restaurant attached) and there is a pub and a locally renowned fish and chip shop right by the harbour. There is also a train station at the edge of the village.

Sea fishing, canoeing and paddle boarding are available on the loch, as well as boat hire and sailing lessons. There are also boat trips out to see seals, seabirds, otters and even dolphins. There are lots of nice walks from Plockton and the route to the beach at Dubhaird (1.5 miles) is particularly scenic, as is the lochside walk round to Duncraig Castle (3.5 miles).

Heading south Kyle of Lochalsh (6 miles) is the nearest place to stock up on supermarket supplies and is also where the bridge crosses over to the beautiful Isle of Skye that has a wide range of attractions.

Dornie (11 miles) is home to the iconic Eilean Donan castle, one of the most widely recognised and frequently photographed castles in Scotland. Accessed by a causeway from the mainland, the castle is open to the public to explore and also has a visitor centre, gift shop and café.

Further out into the countryside are the Falls of Glomach (20 miles), which at 375 feet are one of the highest waterfalls in Britain. They can only be accessed by foot and the route is about 5 miles long, but the incredible views from the top certainly make the trek worthwhile.

Venturing north from Plockton the Bealach na Ba, or ‘Pass of the Cattle’, leads to the lovely village of Applecross (35 miles). The pass is the highest mountain road in Britain with lots of steep drops and hairpin bends, so is definitely not for the faint hearted.
