Offering all of the comforts of home and much more besides this spacious, contemporary getaway makes the very most of its amazing sea vistas through clever use of huge picture windows and sliding glass doors. The best of the views can be fully appreciated from the incredibly spacious, double height sitting room where the soothing holiday atmosphere soon takes over from the usual hassles of everyday life.
Congregate around the table in the extensive dining kitchen to fill each other in on the day’s adventures, while the nominated chef makes use of the enormous range cooker that makes cooking an absolute breeze.
There is the choice of three double bedrooms and the house is graced with the added luxury of having four bathrooms, ensuring that there is no need to queue for a shower in the mornings. One of the bedrooms is extra special due to its en suite bathroom that has both a wetroom style shower and elegant rolltop bath tub and the other two bedrooms each have their own en suite shower rooms.
Rough, marshy grounds surround the house (care to be taken) and behind it is a lovely sheltered area where parking can be found for three or even more cars. The house is set up 150 metres of steep, rough track which should be driven slowly and carefully or, in poor weather, simply park down by the gate and walk up the last section.
In Badachro (1.5 miles) the village pub serves tasty food featuring plenty of fresh seafood, which is unsurprising given its waterside location. At the harbour by the pub is a stall selling yummy wood-fired pizzas and e-bikes can also be hired by the harbour for zipping around on the quiet country roads.
It is worth taking the opportunity to head out on a Shellfish Safari on one of the fishing boats to see fascinating marine life such as starfish, octopuses and lobsters up close and perhaps even get to spot dolphins on the way.
Just outside the village the Badachro Distillery is a good place to support another local business by stopping off and picking up some of the excellent whisky, gin or vodka that they produce.
Enjoy a scenic round of golf on the 9 hole course in Gairloch (8 miles) where there is also a shop from which to grab some supplies. It is difficult to drive past the wonderful stretch of sandy beach at Gairloch without parking up to go and feel the sand between one’s toes, so why fight the urge?
Heading south down the coast, another amazing beach can be found at Red Point which takes its name from its distinctive reddish pink sand. Wonderful views out towards the Isle of Skye off in the distance can be admired and it is truly idyllic to sit and take in the spectacular colours of a west coast sunset.
