Aviemore Ski Resort
The Aviemore/Cairngorm ski resort is perhaps generally the best known in Scotland, principally because of all its associated attractions. Close to the main A9 Perth-Inverness trunk road, it is accessed from Aviemore, which has a superb infrastructure of après-ski facilities. There is loads for all the family to do, however active or inactive they choose to be.
The skiing itself is amid breathtaking scenery on one of Scotland's highest mountains. Skiers and non-skiers alike can make use of Scotland's only funicular railway, which takes passengers up to the Ptarmigan Top Station, with restaurant, shop and mountain exhibition where the views are quite simply out of this world.
There are 22 runs of all levels (one black) of which the longest is 3.3km accessed via 12 lifts. Added attractions at the centre include a sledging park for children (and adults pretending to be children) and a terrain/fun park for freestyle enthusiasts. It caters for all levels of skiers and snowboarders, with ski hire, ski schools, and equipment hire.
