Set amidst the stunning beauty of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park near the sparkling waters of the loch itself is Keepers Cottage, a peaceful sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, yet in easy walking distance of the amenities of Luss village.

Open plan living is the name of the game here with a cosy atmosphere that pervades throughout, creating the perfect setting for unwinding and having a real break away from it all. The comfy leather sofa is the ideal place to curl up with a book or watch a film of an evening, with the dining table just behind and French doors that allow the sunlight to stream in. Beyond the doors is a patio with picnic style seating from which the garden can be admired whilst enjoying a morning coffee and making plans for the day.
The cottage has been thoughtfully laid out with those with limited mobility in mind as there is a ramp that leads from the parking area right up to the front door and, once inside, everything is all on the one level. A shower seat is also provided in the shower room where the large wet room shower is great for everyone’s use.
All of the other rooms lie off the central open plan living area with an attractive double bedroom and charming twin room and handy laundry facilities that are neatly housed in the entrance porch.
There is parking for up to 2 cars just by the front door and behind the house in the enclosed grassed garden the delightful sound of the Luss Water babbling past can be taken in (outwith the garden), as well as the birds chirping away in the trees. Keepers’ sister property Forresters Cottage sits just alongside for larger parties of guests.
The village of Luss itself is very picturesque to walk around and being set within the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park means that there is so much to fit into the holiday schedule that a week’s stay may not be long enough!
Shopping can be picked up at The General Store within the village and the stretch of sandy beach by the pier is a popular spot to sit and appreciate the gorgeous view over towards Ben Lomond, perhaps whilst sampling an ice cream from the little kiosk.
Boat trips taking in some of Loch Lomond’s fascinating islands can be joined from the pier, or head further up the loch to Tarbet (8 miles) where Cruise Loch Lomond run cruises around the loch (lasting around an hour and a half). It is a fantastic way to see as many sights as possible within a short space of time in order to choose which of them to return to for further exploration.
This is certainly hill walking country and those keen to ‘bag’ some munros will be spoilt for choice with over 20 of them to add to the tally within the National Park. One of the most popular to try is imposing Ben Lomond that dominates the landscape for miles around and usually takes around 4 hours to climb up and back down (be sure to go equipped with appropriate clothing and footwear).
Opportunities for more walking abound with the West Highland Way passing nearby, as well as the Rob Roy Way and the Three Lochs Way which encompasses Loch Lomond, Gare Loch and Loch Long. A range of shops and attractions can be found in Balloch (9 miles) where there is a fascinating aquarium, interesting bird of prey centre and Balloch Castle Country Park that has some wonderful walks and nature trails showcasing magnificent views of the loch and castle.
