Activities to Try
Loch Lomond Faerie Trail
Scotland's history is steeped in folklore and legendary tales, and our love of myth is well-known worldwide. The Loch Lomond Faerie Trail brings that love and passion to life, offering families a fun and interactive walk around some of the estate’s wonderful paths.
Keen to offer guests something different, the estate has created a faerie trail that is sure to be a big hit with any little visitors. Featuring beautiful wooden sculptures and a fully interactive treasure hunt, complete with maps, it promises a fantastical adventure for all involved. If you successfully gather all the clues and reveal the final answer at the end of the trail, a treat awaits. Worthy explorers can take their completed clues to the Luss General Store, where your efforts will be rewarded with a certificate of completion. While you're there, why not take the opportunity to pick up some local treats and look around the beautiful village?
Enjoying the Loch
The waters of Loch Lomond offer many sporting opportunities for estate visitors. Cottage guests are welcome to bring their paddleboards with them. In addition, guests are welcome to take a dip in Loch Lomond's beautiful waters, relax, and enjoy the scenery.
In partnership with Loch Lomond Leisure, the estate also offers guests a selection of water sports activities. Activities include canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Hiring boats, including small fishing boats, with full details available on their website, is also possible.
Cruise Loch Lomond offer boat rides around the loch and its many islands. The boat rides connect you to many areas of the Trossachs National Park, allowing you to get the best from your visit. There are a variety of routes to choose from, with trips departing from Luss Pier. The same family has owned Cruise Loch Lomond since the 1940s, and they take great pride in providing exceptional service to visitors.
Activities in the Local Area
The area has an abundance of beautiful walking and cycling routes ready to be enjoyed. The West Loch Lomond Cycle Path runs from Luss to Tarbet and is approximately nine miles long. There are plenty of beaches along the route to stop, rest, and take in the beautiful scenery. The Inn at Inverbeg offers a fantastic opportunity to stop for lunch or a local beer.
The Glen Striddle Horseshoe Walk is one of the more advanced routes available from Luss, but it promises walkers some of the most rewarding views of the area from the top. Measuring approximately eight miles in total, the route should take three to five hours to complete in the warmer months. The route takes you along a stunning grassy ridge and rewards you with views over the Loch and towards the wonderful Arrochar Alps beyond.
Nature enthusiasts should make sure to visit Inchcailloch Island. A ferry crossing is available from Luss Pier to Port Bawn on the southern side. In addition, there are several short walking routes around the island. In particular, the Central Path should be taken in the spring when the ground is often blanketed in bluebells.
