After busy days out, evenings are sure to be spent in the charming sitting room with its comfy seating and an electric flame effect stove that brings added cosiness to complements the oil-fired central heating.
The bright and modern kitchen looks out over the garden and there is a separate, spacious dining room for enjoying relaxed meals together discussing the day’s events. Also on this level is the family bathroom.
Upstairs the two bedrooms, a double and a single, both have dormer windows that show off the view of the Calder Burn opposite. The single room even has its own en suite shower room.
Parking is beside the house and the large, enclosed garden to the side and rear is great for both kids and pets. Trees line the back of the garden that is laid to grass with lovely mature plants and trees and a picnic table to eat at. As the Calder Burn lies just over the way, care should be taken with children.
Salmon and trout fishing can be arranged on Loch Oich just a short walk to away or on the nearby River Oich. There is plenty more to discover all around as the estate extends to around 16,000 acres with a wide array of wildlife to spot. Pretty waterside walks can be taken along two miles of picturesque loch frontage and fishing and clay pigeon shooting are available on the estate.
Fort Augustus is a pretty village at the foot of Loch Ness that draws in visitors to the Caledonian Canal and the various eateries that line it. Passing through Fort Augustus is the Great Glen Way that runs all the way from Inverness to Fort William and can be followed in either direction for excellent walking amidst some stunning scenery.
Whilst in the area a trip to the amazing Loch Ness is an absolute must. This well known, vast body of water is 23 miles long and is thought to be almost 1,000 feet deep. It is incredibly dark due its the depth and the amount of peat that is washed down into it off the hills, providing the perfect place for monsters to hide!
The ruins of Castle Urquhart on the western shore of Loch Ness are still very impressive to this day. It is a large site that takes about an hour to explore fully but it is well worth it for a fascinating insight into its past and some gorgeous views of the loch. At Drumnadrochit there are monster museums to visit and boat trips that venture out on the water so visitors can try to catch a glimpse of the monster for themselves.
Heading south stop off at Neptune’s Staircase on the Caledonian Canal just outside Fort William, a series of 8 locks that allow boats to carefully navigate the 60 foot change in canal level, making it the longest staircase lock in Britain.
