Dalmunzie Cottage is a delightful detached cottage in the heart of a beautiful Perthshire estate. Tucked away in the foothills of the Cairngorms, this three-bedroom hideaway appears to be miles from anywhere but is actually less than a mile from an excellent pub and restaurant, and only 7 miles from Glenshee, one of Scotland’s top ski resorts.

This traditional cottage has been refurbished throughout and is incredibly comfortable and stylish. Many of Dalmunzie’s original features have been retained and refurbished, such as the crow-stepped gables on three sides of the cottage and the large fireplace in the sitting room where the wood-burning stove radiates cosiness.
The elegant sitting room has two windows looking onto the garden and the surrounding hills. In the evening, this is a great place to curl up and watch a film, read a good book or simply watching the moon overhead and enjoying the tranquility that envelopes the cottage as darkness falls.
The spacious, modern kitchen is well-equipped with everything needed to create culinary delights – or packed lunches for a day of hillwalking, climbing, mountain biking or skiing at nearby Glenshee. And, at the end of the day, gather together around the dining table to eat, chat and plan tomorrow’s adventures.
Dalmunzie Cottage sleeps six, with one of the three bedrooms conveniently located on the ground floor. The large downstairs bedroom is attractively decorated and has twin beds – and a lovely view over the valley. Upstairs, there’s another twin bedroom and a double bedroom, both nestling under the eaves of the cottage – and both with wonderful mountain views, There’s also a sleek bathroom with a shower over the bath and, always handy whether holidaying with friends or family, a separate WC.
Located just off one of the private roads that winds through Dalmunzie Estate, the cottage has its own gated drive with ample room for parking. And, although Dalmunzie Cottage sits on its own surrounded by spectacular countryside, the grass around the property has been fenced to provide a private garden. As well as being a safe haven for children and dogs, there are seats perfectly positioned for admiring the gorgeous views out towards the surrounding mountains, breathing in the fresh air and looking out for the local wildlife, including golden eagles, white-tailed eagles, red squirrels and red deer.
Dalmunzie Cottage is located in spectacular Dalmunzie Estate - over 6,500 acres of heather-clad hills and moorland, dramatic mountains, secret lochans, tumbling burns and cascading waterfalls.
As a result, there’s no shortage of hillwalking tracks, Munros to climb (there’s a line of nine Munros above Glenshee) and mountain bike trails to follow from the doorstep of Dalmunzie Cottage. While exploring the neighbourhood, an array of wildlife may be spotted, including red deer, grouse, ptarmigan, red squirrels, mountain hares and a variety of birds of prey, including eagles.
If you fancy a pint or a delicious meal, nearby Dalmunzie Castle Hotel (0.25 miles), is very close at hand. Once the home of the laird of Dalmunzie, this hotel also has a nine-hole golf course (one of the highest in the UK) which is open to guests at the cottage.
Glenshee Ski and Snowboard Centre is only 7 miles from Dalmunzie Cottage. When the winter weather conditions are right, guests at Dalmunzie can be on the slopes in half an hour! Ski and snowboard hire is available at the resort and also at The Cabin Ski Hire in Bridge of Cally (13 miles). The chair lift at Glenshee runs throughout the year, providing a quick and easy route to the upper reaches of the Cairngorms National Park during the summer months.
Persie Distillery is only 12.5 miles away at Bridge of Cally, where tours and tastings are available for those searching for the perfect G&T or, if whisky’s your tipple of choice, Blair Athol Distillery’s 33.5 miles away. Or visit Ogilvy Spirits (31 miles) and find out how an Angus farmer turns potatoes into premium vodka on his family farm, which is only two miles from Glamis Castle (29 miles) – combine the two for an excellent day out.
Braemar (16 miles) is a lovely village to wander around and, every September, is home to the famous Braemar Gathering. This traditional Highland Games attracts visitors from all over the world, including its Royal Patron, His Majesty the King.
Blairgowrie (15 miles) has a good selection of eating places, independent shops and supermarkets, as well as a swimming pool and two Championship golf courses: Rosemount and Lansdowne. For fans of Peter Pan, drive through nearby Glen Isla to Kirriemuir (25 miles) and visit the birthplace (and final resting place) of JM Barrie, the Scottish playwright who created the boy who never grew up.
